Bringing a new pet into your life is an exciting and rewarding experience. However, it's essential to select a pet that suits your lifestyle and fulfils both their needs and yours. With countless options available, making the right choice can be overwhelming.

In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of choosing the perfect pet to ensure a harmonious and fulfilling relationship.

1. Assess Your Lifestyle:

Start by honestly assessing your lifestyle, considering factors such as your daily routine, work hours, physical activity, living arrangements, and personal preferences. Understanding your own lifestyle is crucial to finding a pet that will fit seamlessly into your life.

2. Consider Your Time Commitment:

Pets require time, attention, and care. Some pets, like dogs, thrive on constant companionship and interactive playtime, while others, such as cats or fish, may be more independent. Evaluate how much time you can dedicate to grooming, exercise, training, and socialisation to determine which type of pet suits your schedule.

3. Space and Housing:

Consider the space available in your home or apartment. Larger pets like dogs may require a backyard or nearby parks for exercise, whereas smaller pets like cats or hamsters may be more suitable for smaller living spaces. Ensure that your housing situation aligns with the pet's needs for comfort and mobility.

Imported feed is expensive, and each large package weighs more than 10 kilograms. Many pet stores privately package it into small packages, each 1 kilogram. The owner thinks that it is more cost-effective, and the dog food and cat food are fresh, so there is no need to worry about mold and deterioration. However, pet food is sold in separate packages. If the information is not marked in detail, it is illegal. Once seized, the industry will face a fine of more than 30,000 yuan and less than 150,000 yuan.

In order to save costs, the industry is selling feed in separate packages without labels, which violates the Animal Protection Law

Xie Yuda, head of the Animal Protection and Epidemic Prevention Division of the New Taipei City Government, said that in July this year, the Animal Protection Division received a report from the public that a pet food sub-packaging factory in Xindian District was suspected of sub-packaging and selling unidentified pet food, and then sold it to other pet operators. The field investigation found that in order to reduce the cost of feed packaging, when the industry commissioned a feed factory to make feed, it simply marked the product number on the large package, and then sent it to the feed sub-packaging plant for sub-packaging, or sold it to other pet operators for use.

Xie Youda said that this move violated the provisions of Article 22-4, Item 1, Paragraph 4 of the Animal Protection Law. Pet food is not labeled, unclear or incomplete in accordance with the regulations, and must not be manufactured, processed, packaged, wholesaled, sold, imported or exported. , gifts or public display with intent to sell, in accordance with Article 29, Paragraph 1, Paragraph 7 of the Animal Protection Law, a fine of 30,000 yuan shall be imposed.

The Animal Health Department conducts irregular inspections to ensure pet food safety

In order to ensure the quality of pet food, the Animal Protection Department of the New Taipei City Government visits major pet food stores every year to conduct audits. As of the end of September in 2011, 231 items of pet food were audited, including feed, canned food and various snacks. Special bacteria, pathogenic Escherichia coli, Clostridium perfringens, aflatoxin, heavy metals, preservatives and antioxidants, harmful chemicals, etc.

Xie Youda said that the inspection results were all in line with the standards, but 10 of the pet food and supplies were packaged with product information in Chinese according to regulations or failed to report to the central competent authority, and they have been improved within a time limit. If the above-mentioned products fail to meet the labeling requirements again, they will be fined 30,000 to 150,000 yuan in accordance with Article 29, Item 1, Paragraph 7 of the Animal Health Law.

Xie Youda reminded that no matter whether it is repackaging or manufacturing pet food for sale on the shelves, according to the provisions of the Animal Protection Law, pet food manufacturers should use Chinese and common symbols to prominently mark product-related information on containers, packages or instructions, and send them to the product. Reporting to the central competent authority.

Every furry child is the heart of parents, and the food and personal pet supplies to be imported must not be too sloppy. "Consumption is reasonable, and spending is not guilty!" This famous saying can't be applied to the masters . And to be a good breeder with all your heart, you must know how to choose the supplies you will use in your daily life for your fur kids! Let’s take a look with you today. When choosing pet supplies, you should pay attention to those points, so that furry children can grow up happily and at ease!

What are the daily necessities for cats and dogs

Nutritious dry food: Dry food can help dogs and cats exercise their teeth and jaws. If you don’t go out often, you can also choose low-calorie options. It is an indispensable pet product!

Canned wet food: Wet food can help dogs and cats absorb water and supplement protein, but remember to pay attention to a balanced diet, otherwise it may cause the baby to become obese.

Fresh food: Fresh food is a prototype food with high nutritional value, but if the owner cooks it himself, special attention should be paid to the nutritional balance.

Snacks: Snacks that are air-dried at low temperature are recommended to lock in the natural nutrients and flavors of the food, but it should be noted that you must check whether there are added preservatives in order to eat healthy and unburdened.

Special cake: When the parents of the fur baby will help the fur baby to make the festive cake, it is recommended to use fresh ingredients such as potatoes and mashed meat, and the commemorative colleagues also take into account the health!

Toys: Safe, non-toxic and hard-to-bite materials, to prevent the furry children from biting too excitedly and swallowing the toy to cause subsequent serious situations.

Be careful when choosing ingredients and additives

Since cats and dogs naturally need the action of "biting", because the teeth are growing, or they are too energetic, or they are simply naughty, they need to make the teeth have a force target. Therefore, it is recommended that you must choose natural materials, such as animal bones, wood, and woven materials. Because they are resistant to bite and not easy to rot, they are all good choices for toys or pet supplies. Whether it will enter the mouth or not, it is absolutely necessary to be non-toxic and harmless, and special attention should be paid to additives that need to be imported. For example, dogs must not touch chocolate-related materials.
